Leomo Type S - Bike Computer Tweaking (Android Settings, etc).

Having had the Leomo Type S for a few days, I have found a few tweaks and hints that may be useful.

1. I was prompted yesterday to install a system update, which I did.  Today there was another system update waiting.  The download size was 1.2GB, but I am installing that anyway.

2. The default launcher screen has the "Swipe left for news" thing, which undoubtably takes up memory and data, so I recommend switching to a different launcher.

Annoying News Screen:

3. Many pre-installed applications like Gmail, Google Photos, Google Search, Google Play Movies, Google Duo, Digital Wellbeing, etc. are not necessary and again probably take up extra space and network bandwidth.  More to the point, they present annoying notifications.  Maybe you want to keep gmail just in case (for app activation confirmation emails, etc), but at the very least, you can disable notifications for these apps, and disable automatic synching in the settings menu.

Here is how to disable a preinstalled application entirely: (Settings > Apps > App name > Disable)

Here is how to disable a specific notification from the pull down notifications menu:

Here is how to disable notifications from the settings menu: Settings > Apps > Notifications

4. Long-pressing the power button lets you take screen shots, which is how I got the screen shots above.

5. Glove mode is supported.  Go to Settings > Display > Glove Mode.

6. I turned the screen saver option off.  Go to Settings > Display > Screen Saver > Off.

7. There is a "Double tap to wake" option (The same as found on most Xperia models).  Go to Settings > Display > Tap to Wake > On.  This may be more convenient than using the power button in many cases.

8. If you want to keep some apps like Gmail installed just in case, but don't plan to use them often, you can turn off automatic sync for your google account to save some battery life and network bandwidth.

Go to Settings > Account > Google > Automatic Sync > Off.

9. You can add a custom message to the lock screen with your name and phone number, so if you lose your device, someone can contact you to give it back:
Go to Settings > Lock Screen Setting > Lock Screen Message.
(I do this for my normal phone too...)

Here is the settings screen:

Here is how the lock screen looks once set up:

Note that the "Find my Device" type service is enabled by default, so if you have an LTE card installed, you will probably be able to find it, so long as it has power.  I have tested this, and it works just fine.

10. You can modify the quick menu to add ANT+ and glove mode if you like.  (Use the pencil icon from the swipe down quick menu).

11. I once watched a bike security video where they recommended always taking a photo you parked your bike after locking up, so you can use this as evidence that the bike was where you said it was, and that it was indeed locked.  (And the photo will have a time stamp in case you forgot).  I have done that since the day I watched that video, but it does fill up my normal phone with lots of ... junk photos of my bike.  The Leomo's built-in camera just might serve a purpose after all.  You can use that camera to take photos of your bike when you park it, without gumming up your normal phone.

12. You might consider enabling "High Contrast" under settings > User Accessibility to make that tiny screen just a bit more readable from a slight distance.

13. I scoured the forums for the Karoo 2 (a similar bike computer) to see which apps they most often installed.  A favorite was an all called Switchr, which allows you to quickly and easily switch between different commonly used apps with a single press.

Here is an example:

We are using a navigation app to ride to our friend's house while listening to music.  We want to be able to switch between three screens easily:

a. The navigation app

b. Youtube Music

c. The Leomo Cycle Computer app

I installed Switchr and manually excluded apps like play store, and now you can see there is a nice menu on the right-hand side of the screen.  Here we are in the Leomo app, and there are icons for Navitime and YT Music on the right-hand side.

I click the Navitime icon, and am instantly transported to that screen.  The available icons now change to YT Music and Leomo.  It will always display the three most recently used icons, and you can adjust the size and location of the icons as you see fit.

Obviously, the standard navigation can still be used, but this allows you to switch back and forth much more quickly and certainly.

I am not covering the Leomo app here, because I have covered it separately.
